Programs

Media training

Youth learn to handle the media activities to help them better themselves when it comes to public speaking and writing. Here are some of the highlights that are learned: 

1. How to come up with and determine 3 sound bites that they would like to give. 

2. Learn that regardless of the question they can take the interviewee back to their chosen sound bites. 

3. Use sporting events to interview coaches and players and various topics 

4. Website training and upkeep. 

reporting

Youth learn how to find the story in an interview setting. They will write articles on their interviews. Coaches will be the editor. These will be posted on social media. 

Mentorship

Youth learn to give back. Pro players mentor high school players and high school players mentor our little dribblers (K thru 8th grade). This is a way to keep mentorship in our community and program. Positive experience is critical. Coaches are available to mentor each player from all topics to grades, ACT, college, high school, bullying, God, financial, etc. 

Ministry

K thru 5th grade – memorize Bible verses and concepts through songs and chants. 

5th thru 8th grade – are mentor through the coaches to be good productive citizens. 

High school – Engaging in Bible facts, how the Bible relates to current topics, memorizing scripture that relates to them. 

Pro Team– Engaging in Bible facts and how it relates to current topics. 

Performing Arts Group

Performs at games and allows our Little Dribblers to operate the reporting and skills training programs. The Little Dribblers learn about branding. Skits are performed at halftime. 

Teen sexual health

This program will provide our youth with sexual education and the importance of sexual health. This will be a co program with Class Matters. 

tutoring and act training

Partnering with local tutoring and ACT prep to give players an avenue to get help with school courses and prep for college. 

drug and alcohol education

This is a program for our High School and Pro team. This future program is a goal that we hope to partner with another organization. 

Video Skills Training

Youth receive an opportunity to learn how to video, edit and produce highlights, coaches shows and basketball training videos. 

Financial

During our winter league, Little Dribblers, who complete the interview process, are given jobs. The jobs are statistician, game clock operator, videographer and cashier. Youth will do all 4 positions in a session. Teaching students about financial responsibility and work ethic. 

Branding

Youth on the high school and pro levels learn that their behavior reflects how they are perceived. Youth learn to set a plan, choose a program, and market themselves to the chosen college program. How to market and be presentable to coaches and schools. 

Weightlifting and Training

Coaches provide youtyh with recommendations on how to lift weights, train and work on their basketball skills, and multiple drills. This allows players to get better throughout their time with Servants. 

Referee Training

This is an opportunity for community involvement. Former players, parents, or anyone who wants to learn how to referee. Servants host a camp to train officials to be able to go out and referee games in the community. This also helps financially for families.
